Domino Server All Releases All Platforms

I know that IBM has its own web server built into Domino, but I would like to know given the latest trend of incorporating other software and platforms into Domino, when will the in-built web server be split off, so that an outside (Domino) web server can be used?

Why not use Apache (not Tomcat) to be the Web server for Lotus Domino?

The reasoning is that there are products out there that can already do this job so why not use them.
